I’m passionate about open source data science education!
I’m passionate about democratizing data science. The goal is to enable anyone to wield data science for impacting society for the better. I build ed tech to help make accessible and scalable data science education. I believe that as a part of the data science community, we need to work to become a more inclusive work environment. This would not only create better science, but would widen the circle for individuals who are currently underrepresented in data science.
I’m a part of three main teams:
- DataTrail - aims to decrease the racial disparities in data science by providing educational opportunities for underrepresented communities and data science employers.
- ITCR Training Network - aims to equip cancer researchers better utilize data to fuel their cancer research.
- Fred Hutch Data Science Lab - aims to help coordinate data science and build a supportive community amongst the Fred Hutch Cancer scientists.
Additionally, I:
- Write about data science teaching practices.
- Develop some R packages and ed tech related software.
- Dump my thoughts and findings on this blog when I feel driven.
My life isn’t all data science; I also:
Have two adorable baby girls, a weird dog and a husband. I like to drink beer and play Zelda, Tetris and Scrabble. But I don’t have time for those things because of the aforementioned baby girls and work I’m doing. :D
